Position Summary
Our Information Services department designs, develops and/or supports a number of sophisticated in-house and third party software packages used by our staff and our Clients.
In an entrepreneurial environment, the successful candidate will be responsible to manage a team of Developers and work with a variety of Clients to advance the technical solutions and system architectures in Cornerstone's business divisions. The candidate will also be responsible for the mentoring, coaching and development of the IS team by improving efficiency, increasing technical expertise and implementing best engineering practices throughout the team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide architectural and design leadership and support in all phases of development life cycle.
- Provide technical and business leadership in advancing Cornerstone technology solutions that support business initiatives.
- Perform high-level analysis and design.
- Propose technical solutions to meet defined business needs.
- Provide estimates for the development resources of projects.
- Recommend software development tools and language(s).
- Review and refine architecture as needed.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to staff members involved in account coordination.
- Work with direct reports and act as a mentor to identify learning gaps, execute development action plans and guide the learning process in order to enhance overall team performance.
- Conduct regular feedback sessions and performance appraisals with subordinates.
- Provide skills and knowledge transfer to other development team members.
- Assist in the development of project plans for small-to-medium sized projects.
- Participate in the analysis of complex business opportunities/problems.
- Provide support for existing business solutions.
- Take on additional duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in developing large scale Microsoft .Net solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years experience managing a development team.
- Experience in architectural design and development of web based solutions using Microsoft technology.
- Experience in designing efficient database schemas for large scale data solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the following technologies: Microsoft development platform, .NET, C#, C++, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple developers.
- Extensive software development lifecycle experience.
Skills and Experience
- Experience with e-commerce solutions and payment gateway solutions is an asset.
- Exceptional verbal and written business communication skills with diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into system designs.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated initiative and creative problem solving skills.
